Welcome to 1VoiceOfVirtue!

The purpose of this blog is to provide spiritually reasoned insight into the various forms of spiritual abuse and spiritual neglect taking place in the Black church community.  The Black church has become a debauched institution synonymous with community exploitation, financial and material excess, mental and spiritual abuse, as well as spiritual and Biblical negligence.  As an overly-feminized institution, the Black clergy has sought to spiritually oppress the very same parishioners that have blindly supported their egotistical plans and visions.

Since the untimely death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ph. D., the Black male clergy has presided over, albeit with the help of a fringe group of rebellious Black female clergy, very bleak moments in modern-day Black American history as it relates to our collective spiritual decay. Black women, one of the strongest and most loyal fronts in the Black American spiritual community, have been told to step back and blindly, as well as quietly, submit to this poorly constructed and poorly executed male-dominated “leadership” model within the Christian fellowship. Ongoing struggles within the Black American community have led to a spiritual and moral decay that cannot be conquered without a Biblically-reasoned look at the issues that keep us bound: a chronic case of low educational attainment resulting in even lower job and income prospects; increasing murder rates amongst Black male youths; ongoing ignorance regarding heterosexuality and homosexuality; rising poverty rates resulting not only from the current economic turmoil—but as a result of increasing high school drop-out rates and incarceration; Growing rates of AIDS and other devastating Sexually Transmitted Diseases resulting from a high prison population and the subsequent release of once incarcerated males back into society; domestic violence and a poor understanding of relationship dynamics resulting from an unsound Biblical interpretation of male-female roles; poor family structure as a result of a prolonged and chronic presence of substance use, abuse, and addiction in the Black community; low rates of marriage amongst Black women due to intra-racial prejudices, stereotypes, color complex, misogyny, and exploitation through various forms of media; and, increasing incarceration rates amongst Black American females which leads to increased orphan rates amongst Black American children (just to name a few). The issues are tremendous. Yet, the result is as easy as a woman understanding that she is the spiritual expert in her own life and it is up to her to nurture her relationship with GOD to fully understand and embrace her strengths and weaknesses. It is time to stop allowing our strength and power as Women of GOD to be usurped by misguided Black male mis-leadership in the Christian community—a fear born out of ignorance rather than a sound understanding of GOD’s Word.

Let us unite so that the Black church will transform into the Christian church!
